The CFT School to Career Committee works to ensure that all students are afforded the opportunity to participate in a cohesive and well-articulated system of career, technical, and academic preparation.

Parents
  • A Call to Parents - This website has a wealth of ideas for parents to help reduce the high costs and high risks of education after high school.
  • Career Parent Magazine - This is a free service from Bridges.com, a weekly magazine for parents of pre-teens, teens and 18+. It's available by e-mail or on the web. Provides information to parents who want to help their child's career development.
Teachers as Learners
  • The George Lucas Educational Foundation - This foundation creates media that promotes a new vision of learning where students are challenged and engaged, have access to interactive technologies and are supported by inspired teachers and involved parents and communities.
  • Jobs for the Future - JFF is dedicated to creating successful transitions for youth and how to building effective partnerships. This web site has connected learning communities, whole school change and workforce innovation.
  • Vision 2020/Orange County Department of Education - This is a collaboration of business, educators and community organizations dedicated to enhancing the learning process so young people will have the opportunity to explore careers as part of their ongoing education.

  • Pathfinder - Use the Internet to link Orange County's students with its dynamic business environment.
  • Work Based Learning - How to create work-based learning opportunities for all students. Integrating work-based learning with school based learning. You'll find resources, information and models.
  • National Employer Leadership Council - One of the more popular resources on this site is The Employer Participation Model, developed to help employers build STC systems, work with students and teachers and strengthen their company.
  • SCANS 2000 Center - SCANS-related projects, programs, publications and papers related to preparing students to compete in the global economy of the 21st century.

Pathways
  • State Center Consortium - Organized by eight career pathways for college and career options. STC clearinghouse contains all resources supporting school-to-career. Technical assistance and best practices are available.
  • Comprehensive National School-to-Work Web Site - Career Exploration
  • Orange County Careers - Community college career programs listed by career pathways. The Career Game is a simple assessment to clarify career interests of students.
  • Monterey Bay Regional Partnership - Click on "School-to-Career Machine" from the home page for great information on self-discovery and career exploration. Can be used by students, job seekers or anyone interested in learning more about themselves, what career might suit them best and how to prepare for that career.
  • Bridges Career Exploration Online - This is a great resource for both students and teachers. Includes online school-wide career development system, career, labor market and life skill information.
