Urge Governor Brown to Sign AB 568: Guaranteeing 6 Weeks Paid Maternity Leave for all Educators and School Workersmembers testify IMG 0272 lo

Please take a moment to send a letter to Governor Brown today, urging him to sign Assembly Bill 568 and stand with educators and school workers who wish to start families. Sponsored by CFT, AB 568 would require K-12 school districts and community colleges to provide a minimum of six weeks of paid leave to both certificated and classified school employees for pregnancy, miscarriage, childbirth, and recovery.

SIGN & SHARE THIS LETTER TO GOVERNOR JERRY BROWN TODAY

Hard-working and dedicated educators and support staff should not be forced to decide between starting a family and keeping their jobs. Too many are currently forced to “schedule” pregnancies based on the school calendar, or to try to get by without pay. Governor Brown has the power to end this discriminatory practice and to keep all valued school employees in the workforce.

Defend the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA)

Sign & share this letter to Congress today

The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) is under attack and without a vigorous pushback is in danger of being eliminated. 800,000 immigrant youth are now able to get protection from deportation, go to college, and support their families because of DACA. Across California, thousands of children and families will be at risk if we don’t stand up now.
Ten extremist attorneys general from across the country have called for the DACA program to be rescinded. They have threatened to sue if the Trump administration doesn’t kill DACA by September 5.
Seventy percent of Americans approve of DACA. It is up to all of us to stand up for this critical program and protect our students. We urge you to sign and share this online letter to Congress urging them to pass the Dream Act.
