Hundreds of educators and school support staff will gather at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Sacramento March 31 – April 2 for the 75th annual CFT convention. The convention theme of “Organize. National Adjunct Day of Action at UC
California — Students and faculty of the University of California will hold rallies, teach-ins and marches for the National Adjunct Day of Action. The day of action is a nationwide grassroots effort to educate students and parents about the negative impact on quality of education due to having 75% of college and university faculty hired into temporary and part-time positions, often with very low pay, no job security and no benefits.

What does the DOE Decision Mean for Future of CCSF?
The CFT and City College of San Francisco faculty have announced a news teleconference for Wednesday to respond to the Department of Education's (DOE) decision validating their complaint against the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) for conflicts of interest, mistaken reliance on deficiencies, and inadequate faculty representation on accreditation teams.

August 13, 2013—Today the U.S. Department of Education sent notice to the ACCJC that three elements of the CFT's complaint needed to be addressed or the accrediting agency's reauthorization will be in jeopardy.  The three elements included a conflict of interest by ACCJC president Barbara Beno in appointing her husband to the CCSF site visit team in 2012; failure to appoint accreditation review teams that were balanced between administrative and faculty appointments; and failure to distinguish clearly between "recommendations" and "deficiencies" that CCSF needed to address after its accreditation was reaffirmed in 2006.  Click here to view the DOE's letter to Beno.
