EC/TK-12 Educational Issues Conference – Part 1
January 31 - February 1, 2025

The CFT’s Early Childhood/TK-12 Council is sponsoring an Educational Issues Conference at the Sacramento CFT Office (1225 H St., Sacramento, CA 95814), January 31st and February 1st.    

In order to encourage locals’ participation with this conference,  the first fifteen (15) locals to register at least one member for the Educational Issues Conference Part 1 or Part 2 shall receive a $200 subsidy upon attending a complete workshop (no late arrivals/early departures) by submitting $200 of documented conference expenses on a CFT reimbursement form that will be provided at the end of the cohort sessions. 

We will not offer a hotel block, but we do recommend the Hyatt Centric Downtown Sacramento.

Meals

Lunch will be provided on Friday. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on Saturday. 

Schedule

Friday, January 31st

12 pm Conference begins and session concludes at 5 pm. 

Saturday, February 1st

8:30 am Session begins and adjourns at 3:30 pm.

Workshops

Literacy Instruction for EC/TK through Grade 5 Educators

  • This interactive session will model effective reading strategies to support literacy development and the integration of writing across content areas. In addition, participants will walk away with readily applicable strategies and resources to partner with parents and promote literacy at home.

Artificial Intelligence Strategies for EC/TK-12 Educators

  • This workshop will equip union members with foundational understanding of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), its impact on education, and strategies for navigating this evolving landscape.

Ethnic Studies for High School Educators

  • What is Ethnic Studies? The Demographic and Moral Imperatives
    This workshop will historicize Ethnic Studies/Chicanx Studies and illustrate its demographic and moral imperative. Demographics and data will address California specifically.
