The EC/TK-12 Council is accepting nominations for its Annual Pride of the Union Awards. The awards offer a wonderful way to honor the active members of your local. The EC/TK-12 Council encourages each local to enter, and requests that you discuss these awards with your Executive Board and complete the nominations as soon as possible.

There are five categories, described on the following page of this memo. Please submit only one nomination per category. 

• Union Activism – This will be awarded to a CFT local that has demonstrated strong leadership in the area of teacher defense, contract innovation/negotiations, grassroots membership involvement, strong infrastructure, and general excellence.
• Educational Issues – You may nominate an individual, a program or a school for such accomplishments as innovative curriculum, exemplary instructional techniques, an outstanding education program, restructuring/reform successes, or effective professional development.
• Dedicated Unionist – For that unsung hero in your local who has demonstrated dogged devotion to union principles and union grunt work over the long haul.
• Emerging Union Leadership – We are looking for that outstanding new union leader from your local.
• Political Involvement – This will go to a local that has demonstrated success in the areas of legislative issues, labor council and coalition involvement, COPE membership, and local elections.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, February 28, 2025.
