Bargaining Strategies and Layoff Preparations for 2020-21
With the announcement of severe budget cuts in Governor Newsom’s May Revision to the state budget, we are facing the imminent possibility of significant cuts across every sector of public education in California. We want to offer you the best possible guidance for contract negotiations through 2020-21, and help you become fully prepared for the discussions about layoffs that are already beginning to happen in some districts. Whether your local represents classified employees, K-12 teachers, or community college faculty, this training will provide specific and detailed information to prepare you for the immediate steps needed to protect members’ jobs and safeguard your contracts to the best of your ability.
This is training is for union leaders and formula-funded staff. There is a training for Southern California on June 3, and one for Northern California on June 4. If you are unable to attend the training scheduled for your region, you are welcome to register in whichever one works best.
